LAKHIMPUR: On the occasion of the ‘Atmabalidan Divas’, martyr Bhagat Singh was commemorated in Lakhimpur district with due reverence on Thursday. In this connection, the Lakhimpur district committee of All India Democratic Students’ Organisation (AIDSO) organized a Shradhanjali programme in North Lakhimpur town near Deputy Commissioner’s Office. An exhibition over the quotes and rare photographs of Bhagat Singh was organized on the occasion. It was followed by a rally with tableau which was taken out from North Lakhimpur town to Dhakuakhana town covering a distance of 80 kilometers. After the arrival of the rally in Dhakuakhana, a street meeting was held at Gandhi Park, wherein Anupam Chutia, the secretary of the Lakhimpur district unit of the Socialist Unity Centre of India (Communist), delivered lecture on life and works of Bhagat Singh, who is referred to as the Shaheed-e-Azam (The Great Martyr).
