Attempt to loot bonus money in Diamukhiya Tea Estate

TINSUKIA: A gang of dacoits comprising 15-20 members, armed with guns and sharp weapons and their faces covered with black bandana, barged into the office complex of Diamukhiya TE owned by MK Shah Exports Ltd under Doomdooma PS in a bid to loot bonus money on the wee hours of Tuesday. The manager of the garden lodged an FIR at Doomdooma PS and police have launched a massive operation to nab the culprits. According to reports, the gang, after locking three night guards in a room, broke open the office room, including the manager's room, and attempted to break the cash box but failed. Then they initially asked for the key of the locker from the night guards. When the night guards said they did not have the key, the gang thrashed them and threatened to shoot one of them. Before retreating, the gang damaged the office furniture, computers and CCTV camera and took away the cell phones of the night guards. The incident has created panic in tea gardens as disbursement of bonus money to workers has started in all tea gardens.
