DHUBRI: An awareness meeting to eliminate Tuberculosis from Dhubri district was held in collaboration with NSS unit of B.N.College in its Digital Auditorium on Friday. Addressing the meeting, Dhubri Joint Director of Health Services, Dr. J.B.Roy said that TB requires urgent attention and it is necessary to create awareness among all sections of people including students of higher classes.
“To support this goal, India needs a united, public voice to help combat TB. Educational institutions can play a decisive role in fight against TB,” Dr JB Roy said. In his speech, Dhubri District TB Officer of National TB Elimination programme, Dr. Natyabir Das said that TB is not only a medical disease but a social problem as well and such multi-faceted issues are beyond the efforts of health sector alone to eliminate it. “In order to eliminate this disease we need meaningful involvement of non-health sectors particularly students’ community to focus on motivating people to continue treatment and at the same time take affirmative action towards removal of superstitions and stigma,” Dr. Das added.
While addressing the meeting, Principal of BN College, Dr. Dhruba Chakrabortty said the institution is committed towards its societal responsibilities and its endeavour through this initiative to proactively create awareness and facilitate dietary support to the patients of Dhubri College.
