DHUBRI: Dhubri District Agriculture Office organized an awareness meeting under Assam Millet Mission on ‘Millet for School Children of Assam at Khudimari MV School under Rupshi Development Block on Saturday. The awareness meeting was held in connection with the International Year of Millet to create awareness among the students about the types of millet, food values and properties of millet and benefits of millet. The awareness meeting was conducted by District Nodal Officer- Assam Millet Mission, Pankaj Chandra Das, and more than 50 students, teachers and Anganwadi workers expressed their interest in consuming millet as food.
At the awareness meeting District Agricultural Officer, Nirmal Chandra Ghose, District Nodal Officer Assam Millet Mission, Pankaj Chandra Das, Assistant Agricultural Inspector, Anarul Hoque Mandal delivered awareness speeches to the students regarding millets and its benefits along with distribution of leaflets on millets. At the meeting Assistant Agricultural Inspector, Amanur Rahman, District Environment Coordinator, Dr. Joydeep Shill and concerned officers and employees were present.
