Awareness programme conducted in adopted village of Gargaon College

An awareness programme on Environmental Hazards and Disaster Mitigation was conducted by the Geological Forum, Gargaon College in collaboration with the Parents Teachers’ Association

SIVASAGAR: An awareness programme on Environmental Hazards and Disaster Mitigation was conducted by the Geological Forum, Gargaon College in collaboration with the Parents Teachers' Association of the Department of Geology, Gargaon College in its adopted model village, Longkak Gohain Gaon near Sunpura, on Friday.

The programme was conducted at 910 Longkak Gohain Gaon Primary School in the presence of local village people and the school children. The team was led by Dr Chandraditya Gogoi, Head and Assistant Professor, Bonika Buragohain, Dr Chirantan Bhagawati, Assistant Professors and some 4th Semester students of the Geology Department, Gargaon College.

The objective of the programme was to create awareness among the village people and the school children about the consequences of human actions in exploiting the earth's resources and the need for protecting the environment.

Dr Sabyasachi Mahanta, noted columnist and Principal of Gargaon College, appreciated the effort of the faculty members of Geology Department, Gargaon College for organizing such an awareness programme for making the people conscious about protecting the environment and to make a pollution-free society. Dr Chandraditya Gogoi exchanged views on many environmental and disaster mitigation issues with a large group of local people and parents of the Longkak Gohain Gaon. The team also distributed snacks and juice among the school students of the 910 Longkak Gohain Gaon Primary School.
