TEZPUR: Dr Pradip Kumar Lahkar, special member of Medical advisory board for plantations workers and MIP, Tezpur in association with management of Salonah tea estate organized an awareness programme at Salonah tea estate in Nagaon district. The menstrual hygiene awareness programme aimed to encourage hygienic practices during the menstrual periods and dealing with associated physical problems.
Attending the programme as a resource person, Pianchu Das Boro Assistant teacher of Anjukpani LP School Nagaon and Rubi Saikia, Assistant teacher of Rangapara Higher Secondary school delivered speeches on importance of maintaining menstrual hygiene.
Dr Lahkar gave importance on Antinatel check up to reduce maternal mortality rate. Dr Lahkar said that campaign was targeted to end period poverty and make menstrual hygiene an important health concern amongst the adolescent residents of Greater Salonah TE.
Senior Manager Kellyden tea estate Rajsekhar Dutta and Secretary ABITA Tezpur, Mrinmoy Baruah distributed sanitary napkins to around 200 participants.
