An awareness programme among the students on various examinations conducted by the Assam Public Service Commission was held on Saturday at Darrang College auditorium

TEZPUR: An awareness programme among the students on various examinations conducted by the Assam Public Service Commission was held on Saturday at Darrang College auditorium here on Saturday, which was organized by Sonitpur district administration in collaboration with Darrang College, Tezpur.

Chairman, Assam Public Service Commission, Bharat Bhushan Dev Choudhury, (Retd IAS) was the chief guest. Speaking on the occasion, the chairman said the event in Sonitpur is the first among a series of such programmes by APSC which will be held across other districts of Assam and welcomed the initiative taken up by Sonitpur district administration to hold the event.

Addressing the students, he spoke on the various types of examinations conducted by the APSC including Combined Competitive Examinations for entry into the Assam Civil Services and other allied services, and similar examinations held for entry into other services under the Government of Assam. In his speech he exhorted the students to make a plan about how to prepare themselves for the upcoming examinations, how to keep track of current affairs, and how much time to devote to studies and at the same time take care of their physical and mental health.

Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Business Administration, Tezpur University, Dr. Tridib Ranjan Sarma who was present as a motivational speaker appealed to the students to believe in themselves, study to gain knowledge and improve themselves as a person by identifying their own strengths and weaknesses and working on them. He also asked the students to strive to become a person other people look up to and work towards betterment of the society at all times.

Delivering the welcome address, Deputy Commissioner Deba Kumar Mishra said nearly 500 students from various higher educational institutions under Sonitpur district such as THB College, Jamugurihat, Tezpur University, Tezpur College, LGB Girls' College, Darrang College, LOKD College, Dhekiajuli, Biswanath College and Chaiduar College have been invited to take part in today's programme. Some of the students who attended today's programme are in the final year of undergraduate courses and some had recently cleared their UG examinations and the programme is expected to go long way in helping these students prepare for such competitive examinations. Principal, Darrang College, Dr Palashmoni Saikia delivered the vote of thanks.
