Awareness programme on Japanese Encephalitis and malaria held in Biswanath

BISWANATH CHARIALI: An awareness programme and fever screening camp was held at Orangbasti village under Bedetipathar Borjuli Sub-Centre of Behali BPHC in Biswanath district recently in order to create awareness among people regarding Japanese Encephalitis and other vector-borne diseases.

The meeting was presided over by VDP secretary Dharmendra Singh Das. Surveillance Inspectors Mohan Gogoi and Pradip Bhujel, Surveillance Workers Nitul Gogoi and Mohan Baruah, ANM Bhabani Upadhyay and Rekha Baruah and ASHA worker Niru Dey dwelt at length about the diseases among the villagers. Leaflets were also distributed in the meeting. Kakoli Dutta, District Malaria Officer, informed that the Biswanath district administration had geared up to combat vector-borne diseases, particularly Japanese Encephalitis (JE) and malaria, across the district.

Deputy Commissioner Pranab Kumar Sarmah issued instructions to the health and other departments concerned to intensify surveillance and awareness campaigns to stop occurrence and spread of JE and malaria.
