Awareness programme on SC & ST Tribe held in Haflong

HAFLONG: To create awareness among the masses, the All Dimasa Students' Union (ADSU) Maibang Zonal Committee, in collaboration with Jalai Khurang Society, organized a one-day awareness programme on SC & ST Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989 at Dishru Cultural Club on Thursday, informed Mairing Johori, general secretary of ADSU and president of Jalai Khurang Society.

Gaurav Kr Das, Assistant Commissioner, attended as the chief guest while Bijit Langthasa, MAC, N C Hills Autonomous Council, and J L Jidung, former EM and social activist, attended as the guests of honour. The session was inaugurated by Bijit Langthasa, and Raju Deuri, advocate and tribal social activist, was the resource person of the session.

As many as 89 gaonburhas and assistant gaonburhas of different villages of the subdivision, along with many NGO leaders and social activists, participated the session.
