NAGAON: District police administration, Nagaon in association with Red Ribbon Club, NSS, NCC and IQAC of the historic Nowgong College (autonomous), organized an awareness programme against contraband and other narcotic substances just ahead of the World Day against Drugs at the college premise on Sunday.
Dr Sarat Borkatoki, principal of the college, welcomed the guests as well as other participants while Dr Bhuban Chandra Chutiya, coordinator to Internal Quality Assurance Cell of the college, anchored the entire programme.
Navaneet Mahanta, the newly-appointed Superintendent of Police, Nagaon attended the programme as the keynote speaker. While addressing the occasion, SP Mahanta asserted that the drugs menace posed a massive threat to the global society. Educational institutions should go ahead with a mission to create a tobacco-free as well as other contraband free or narcotic substances-free atmosphere inside their campuses, he said, adding that all these institutions could play the pivotal role in tackling the drugs menace in the State.
Additional Superintendent of Police (Headquarters) Supratimlal Boruah, Dr Prasanta Khanikar, Head of the Department of Education, and others were present in the programme.
