Dibrugarh: Under the aegis of Dibrugarh district administration and with the support of UNICEF and SSA, an awareness workshop on the Clean School Award, 2019 was organized on Thursday at the DC office.
The coordinator of the Regional Resource Centre of the district and nodal teachers of the green and blue schools attended the event. Organized by the Ministry of Human Resource Department, the National Clean School Award, 2019 ranks the school on certain parameters. The workshop was aimed at ensuring hundred per cent registration of all the schools of the district, located under six education blocks, in the survey.
Speaking at the event, Deputy Commissioner Pallav Gopal Jha stressed the need to create awareness among students regarding the pressing need of cleanliness, drinking water and sanitation facilities at schools. He added that due to such lack of awareness, the students were getting afflicted with different water-borne diseases, which led to out-of-pocket health expenditure of their parents in the name of their treatment. Jha also held that such awareness was needed not just in schools, but also is urban and rural areas. The primary role in the generation of awareness regarding this respect can be played by school-going students, he opined.
