SIVASAGAR: On the occasion of Rongali Bihu, on behalf of Axam Xahitya Xabha (AXX), Arunudoy Xahitya Xabha of Sivasagar extended its heartfelt felicitation to five noted personalities of Sivasagar on Wednesday. Manirul Islam Bora, chief advisor and Khairuddin Ahmed, secretary of Arunudoy Xahitya Xabha greeted eminent writer Joliara Ahmed, former state player and educationist Syed Hakiqur Rahman, Zikir researcher Safiqur Rahman, educationist Tankeshwar Gogoi and retired Assam Police officer Abdul Hamid with Phulam Gamosa and certificate of the AXX at their respective residences.
Responding to the greetings, Zikir researcher Safiqur Rahman said that after being involved with Axam Xahitya Xabha for the last 40 years, we are overwhelmed to receive such an honour on the eve of Bohag Bihu. The Axam Xahitya Xabha is conducting research in different directions, however, there is a need to pay more attention to the preservation of the endangered Zikirs of Ajan Peer Sahab, said Safiqur Rahman.
Receiving the greetings, eminent writer Joliara Ahmed said that from Padmanath Gohain Baruah to Imran Shah, Sivasagar is also known as the birthplace of Manishi (scholars) for embellishing the post of President of Axam Xahitya Xabha. From Sivasagar, the heart of Assamese language and literature, the Baptist Mission Society published the first newspaper paper 'Arunudoy'. Joliara Ahmed has called upon the Axam Xahitya Xabha for construction of a park in Sivasagar town with statues of former presidents of Axam Xahitya Xabha who hailed from Sivasagar.
