AXX president Kuladhar Saikia to be conferred Dr Moidul Islam Bora Xahitya Award

Sahitya Akademi award-winning writer, former DGP of Assam and president of Axam Xahitya Xabha (AXX), Kuladhar Saikia has been chosen for the Dr. Moidul Islam Bora Xahitya Award-2021 for his outstanding contribution in the field of literature.

SIVASAGAR: Sahitya Akademi award-winning writer, former DGP of Assam and president of Axam Xahitya Xabha (AXX), Kuladhar Saikia has been chosen for the Dr. Moidul Islam Bora Xahitya Award-2021 for his outstanding contribution in the field of literature.

Instituted in the year 2011 after the first doctorate of Assam and the former Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University, Dr Moidul Islam Bora, the award will be formally given away jointly by the Arunudoy Xahitya Xabha and Dr Moidul Islam Bora Smriti Rakhya Samiti on September 22 at a function here in Sivasagar, informed Prema Gogoi, president of Dr Moidul Islam Bora Smriti Rakhya Samiti.

Born on September 1, 1959 in Rangiya, Assam, Kuladhar Saikia was a 1985 batch IPS officer who retired as the Director-General of Assam Police. The former Assam cop and eminent writer was awarded the prestigious Katha Award in 2000 and the Sahitya Akademi award for his short story collection Akaxor Sobi Aru Onyannya Golpo (Picture of the Sky and other tales) in 2015. He was elected president of Axam Xahitya Xabha in January 2020.
