Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav: 'Bijli Mahotsav' held at Bogijuli in Sonitpur district

As part of 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav', to celebrate 75 years of India's Independence

TEZPUR: As part of 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav', to celebrate 75 years of India's Independence, the Ministry of Power in association with the Power Department and in active support of the Sonitpur district administration, organized a 'Bijli Mahotsav' at Bogijuli in Sonitpur district.

The 'Bijli Mahotsav' is being observed with the view to provide a platform to celebrate the collaboration between the State and the Central governments and highlight the key achievements of the Power sector. Similar events are being celebrated all over the country under the umbrella of Ujjwal Bharat Ujjwal Bhavishya – Power @2047 for more public participation and getting across the developments in the power sector to the citizens at large.

Sonitpur is one of the 773 districts across the country identified for the purpose and in two villages, namely Bogijuli and Amloga, where 100 per cent electrification has been achieved under the Saubhagya scheme of the Central Government. It may be noted that, 46,723 beneficiaries in the district have received electricity connections within 18 months of the launch of the Saubhagya scheme.

MLA Sootea LAC Padma Hazarika graced the occasion as chief guest which saw a large turnout of locals from the area.
