JAMUGURIHAT: As part of celebration of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, a debate competition was organized by the 4/4 Gorkha Rifles, Phulbari in Khelmati Addabari ME School near Balipara on Wednesday.
In this connection, the Eco-Club of Khelmati Addabari ME School had organized a community festival in connection with the event. The event was inaugurated by Mrinal Saikia, ZPC member, Balipara followed by a welcome address offered by Chhatraman Subba, assistant teacher of the school.
More than 10 indigenous communities including Bodo, Mising, Karbi, Gorkha, Assamese, Deuri, Santhal, Adivasi besides others, exhibited their folk culture and traditional attire as well. A debate competition on the topic 'Whether India became progressive after 75 years of Independence?' was z by 4/4 Gorkha Rifles, Phulbari to commemorate the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
A total of 12 students of the school participated in the debate competition. Major Kiran Kumar of 4/4 GR graced the occasion as a chief guest and awarded the participants. The programme was attended by Ajit Bodo, headmaster of the school, along with other dignitaries.
