Tinsukia: The Baghjan Gaon Yuba Milanjyoti Sangha (BGYMS) suspended the indefinite road blockade programme for seven days on Saturday. This came a day after a discussion with the Tinsukia district administration.

The Sangha represents the people who have been affected by the Bagjan fire. The villagers affected by the Baghjan fire, under the banner of BGYMS, launched a blockade on the road leading towards the Bagjan no. 5 oil well and connecting Tinsukia and Doomdooma from September 17.

The blockade has affected the ongoing work of Oil India Limited(OIL) and has caused immense problems for the workers working at Baghjan no.5 oil well.

The OIL had sent a letter to BGYMS on Friday requesting them to lift the blockade.

Meanwhile, the fire at Baghjan OIL well No 5 continues to burn since June.
