TINSUKIA: The affected families of Baghjan oil blowout have resorted to indefinite hunger strike at the blowout site from Wednesday as Oil India Limited (OIL) is yet to release suitable compensation to all affected families.

While the Tinsukia district administration and OIL were selective in awarding compensation, the activists of Baghjan Milan Jyoti Sangha, which has been spearheading the agitation, contended that both Tinsukia administration and the OIL adopted dilly-dallying tactics to deprive genuine affected families. A section of affected families who are not the inmates of relief camps alleged before media persons that they were deliberately side-lined by some vested circles to keep away from the compensation benefits.
