PATHSALA: The long-standing demand of the people of the Bajali subdivision came true after the final Cabinet decision and declaration of the subdivision as a district with Sarukshetri, Bhabanipur, and Patacharkuchi LACs.
People of Bajali have welcomed the decision but at the same time they reiterated that they would not accept the Citizenship (Amendment) Act at any cost.
Mridul Talukdar, AJYCP Bajali district committee president, expressed happiness at the decision to declare Bajali as a district but said that the CAA would not be accepted. The Kalita Janagosthiya Sannmilani Students’ Union also made a similar comment. Giridhar Choudhury, senior advocate of the Pathsala, expressed happiness after the declaration and said that work for the district should be started soon for the greater interest of the people of the area.
Samudra Patgiri, Barpeta district president of the AASU, also welcomed the decision but said that the anti-CAA stir would continue. Nagen Choudhury, BJP Bajali district president, expressed happiness after the declaration of Bajali subdivision as a district and distributed sweets among people.
