Baksa district administration gears up to face natural calamities

GORESWAR: With a view to tackling all possible situations or consequences caused due to possible natural calamities like flood, hail storm and cyclone in the district, a high-level meeting was held on May 3 under the presidentship of Deputy Commissioner, Bhaskar Pegu at the conference hall of the DC office, Mushalpur in Baksa.

The DC instructed the departments concerned, especially Agriculture, Water Resource, Public Health Engineering, Food and Civil Supply, Health and Animal Husbandry to be prepared for any situation during floods or other natural calamities. In the meeting, the district administration set up a special control room in the district to tackle any possible situation or circumstance due to unforeseen or unpredictable natural disasters or calamities.

Additional DC Dilip Kumar Buthra, Superintendent of Police of Baksa, TP Bijoy Kumar, Commanding Officer of Army, Colonel Sudhir Pathok, other dignitaries of departments concerned were present in the meeting along with Circle Officers of Barama, Jalah, Baksa and Tamulpur revenue circles.

Deputy Commissioner Bhaskar Pegu alerted all the top officials of the district to be ready for any eventuality arising out of the impact of any calamity. The DC also instructed the officials to submit flood report regularly from May 15.
