Baksa Police recovers huge amount of illegal arms and ammunitions, ahead of BTC polls

Guwahati: In a major crackdown against illegal arms and ammunitions ahead of the BTC elections, the Baksa Police in Assam recovered two AK series rifles, 4 magazines and 520 rounds of live ammunition during an operation on Friday night. According to sources, the Police team recovered the arms and ammunitions near Sinari Basti on the banks of river Diring under Barbari police station. The operation was led by Baksa Additional Superintendent of Police Lamhao Dungel.

Baksa Police tweeted on Saturday saying, "Baksa Police in its efforts to make the district Arms free has yet again recovered 02 AK-47 Rifle, 04 magazines and 520 rounds of live AK ammunition on the night of 25th September 2020, near Sinari basti on the banks of river Diring under Barbari PS."

It may be mentioned that since the past couple of months, Assam police has intensified its campaign against illegal arms, especially in the four districts of Bodoland Territorial Region due to the upcoming Bodoland Territorial Council.
