Ban on plying of heavy vehicles on NH-15 in Sonitpur

Deputy Commissioner of Sonitpur and chairman of the District Disaster Management Authority, Deba Kumar Mishra has enacted the Disaster Management Act of 2005 to prohibit the movement of heavy vehicles, except those carrying essential and medical supplies on NH-15 in the Sonitpur district.

TEZPUR: Deputy Commissioner of Sonitpur and chairman of the District Disaster Management Authority, Deba Kumar Mishra has enacted the Disaster Management Act of 2005 to prohibit the movement of heavy vehicles, except those carrying essential and medical supplies on NH-15 in the Sonitpur district.

In a meeting of the District Road Safety Committee held on June 17, considering the deterioration of NH-15 caused by continuous rains during the current monsoon season and the potential risks posed by heavy vehicle movement, it was decided to restrict the movement of vehicles carrying loads heavier than wheelchairs.

With the imposition of the ban, any officer, executive body, department, institution or individual who hinders the implementation of this directive shall be subjected to legal action in accordance with the prevailing laws and policies. This order has been enforced in the entire district with immediate effect and will be continued until further order.
