Bandana Twin Murder Case: Additional Search Operation In Dawki Begins

The machete used in the murder case was sent for forensic analysis on Friday. Guwahati police were able to recover the razor-sharp machete from Bondajan beel.

GUWAHATI: The ghastly twin murder case of Noonmati will be the subject of additional search operations by the Guwahati Police on Saturday in Meghalaya's Dawki.

Arup Deka and Dhanjit Deka, Bandana Kalita's two co-defendants in the terrifying twin murder case, are also being transported to Dawki for the purpose of conducting search operations.

Bandana was sent to the Noonmati police station early this morning. She was under the care of the Panbazar All Women Police Station. Dhanjit and Arup Deka were taken into custody and sent to the Noonmati police station.

The machete used in the murder case was sent for forensic analysis on Friday. During search activities that were started on Thursday, the Guwahati police were able to recover the razor-sharp machete from Bondajan beel.

The three accused, Bandana Kalita, Arup Deka, and Dhanjit Deka, reportedly underwent an hour of questioning at the Noonmati Police Station prior to the search operation. Subsequently, police carried out a store raid in the neighbourhood of Patharquary, where Imran Ansari, the proprietor, was also taken into custody.

We have established that Bandana Kalita purchased the machete from Imran for Rs 320.

Police has informed that Bandana Kalita, the killer wife who murdered both her husband and mother in law performed puja in the same residence where she committed the heinous crime. 

Bandana had arranged a Satyanarayan Puja in the room she killed her own husband, and also invited her parents for the same. The episode took place on October, after two months of murdering the duo. Later, Bandana was seen walking and breathing around fresh air like a normal person. She had also renovated her house after the incident.

Police also found that Bandana visited several holy places and posted religious quotes and pictures on her social media account. While informing deets about the incident, Diganta Borah, the police commissioner of Guwahati, stated that Bandana with the help of Arup strangled Shankari with a pillow and later hit her head with a rolling pin.

Bandana killed her mother in law on 27th of July, 2022, and disposed her chopped body pieces in Meghalaya. Amarjyoti, husband of the murderer was killed on 17th of August, 2022.
