SILCHAR: Voters of Karimganj Lok Sabha constituency should foil the attempt of AIUDF to divide minority votes by fielding its candidate against the Congress to pave the way for the BJP, stated Pradip Dutta Roy, the chief convener of the Barak Democratic Front (BDF). Addressing a press briefing, Dutta Roy said for last couple of terms it could be seen that the AIUDF fields its candidates in many constituencies having considerable share of Muslim votes. As a result the minority votes get divided and the BJP finally comes out as the winner, elaborating this, Dutta Roy said, a direct contest between the Congress and the BJP would have reverse result with the former coming out as the winner.

Dutta Roy further said, the Congress should field senior advocate Hafiz Rashid Ahmed Chowdhury as the unanimous candidate as he has great acceptance among both the Muslims and the Hindus. Hafiz Rashid has a remarkable track record of raising his voice for the minorities and if he wins, the Barak Valley would definitely get an efficient representative in the Lok Sabha who could voice the pangs and aspirations of the region in much logical way. The present BJP MP Kripanath Mallah was a silent spectator in the Lok Sabha as he utterly failed to present the issues of the valley in the Parliament.
