Barpeta district administration gears up for Assembly election

The Deputy Commissioner of Barpeta, Munindra Sarma stated that preparation had started for the election in six constituencies of the entire district.

BARPETA: Barpeta district administration has started preparation for the Assembly election. In a press meet on Saturday at the Deputy Commissioner's conference hall, the Deputy Commissioner of Barpeta, Munindra Sarma stated that preparation had started for the election in six constituencies of the entire district.

In the six constituencies of Barpeta, Sarbhog, Jania, Baghbar, Sarukshetry and Chenga there are all total 11,41,384 voters. Among them, 5,87,680 are male and 5,53,678 are female voters. There are 16,762 D-voters and 1,596 polling stations in the entire district. Total 10 are women polling stations,12 model polling stations, 124 are char area polling stations and 61 polling stations are for web casting.

All polling officers will be given COVID vaccination, and wearing of masks and social distancing will be maintained strictly. There will also be postal ballot for specially abled persons and for the people above 80 years. In Barpeta district, there are all total 2,607 specially abled voters and 14,664 voters are above 80 years of age.

The Barpeta district administration will prepare MC College as the strong room. The Superintendent of Police stated that police had already seized a hue cache of illicit liquor, both foreign and country-made, during the last few days. Already 19 have been arrested and cases have been registered.

In this meeting, Superintendent of Police Dr Robin Kumar, Nirupam Hazarika, Additional SP, Nabajit Pathak, ADC, Barpeta, Sabyasachi Kashyap, EAC, Barpeta, Bikash Sarma, DIPRO, Barpeta and journalists were also present.
