Barpeta girl allegedly raped and murdered in Bangalore

A 19-year-old girl who recently took admission in East-West College Bangalore was raped and murdered a day after her admission to the college

Barpeta:  In a horrific incident, a teenage girl from Barpeta district of Assam was allegedly raped and murdered in Bangalore on Wednesday (December 16).

The 19-year-old girl is a resident of Howly, Barpeta who was a student of first-year BSC nursing in East-West College Bangalore recently took admission in the college.

According to the police, preliminary investigations suggested that the victim was first raped and then murdered.

She was dropped by her family members at the institute on December 14 after her enrolment at the college and returned back. Later on December 16, the body of the 19-year old was recovered in a mysterious circumstance. And she was brought dead to Anupama Hospital in Yelahanka, Bangalore.

The accused has been arrested by the Bangalore police on Wednesday.

Her family has alleged that she was taken to Bangalore by an education agent who along with two other persons is involved in the murder. Moreover, the victim's family said that the police should speed up their investigation in the matter.

Various parties from Barpeta have demanded that the accused be hanged after investigating the matter.

A resident from the victim's native place said, "The accused is a friend of her brother. He was helping her with the admission, too. On Wednesday, the victim went to the accuser's residence, and later she was found in a pool of blood by locals of the area."

"If  she  was raped and then murdered we want all the accused to be punished rigorously and want capital punishment for all of them," he added.

According to a media report Madan Kalita, Deputy superintendent of police, Barpeta said, "We are ready to cooperate with the Bangalore police if further links arise in Assam."
