UDALGURI: The Assam Gorkha Sanmellan (AGS) has appealed to the people from the Gorkha community to unite and fight for their dignity and rights. In an open session of Udalguri district committee of AGS held at Amjuli village on Sunday, BasudevUpadhyaya, the general secretary of AGS made the appeal for unity. Puspadhar Bastola, the Principal of Udalguri HS School also appealed to all the guardians to guide their children for educational excellence. He was speaking as an invited guest in the felicitation ceremony organized to honour the people who contributed to the society through their work. BikashSubedi, the working president of AGS BTR region also cited the problems of the Gorkhas in the region. The meeting was presided over by Ramesh Dahal, the president while the guest introduction was given by BhubanDhamala, the general secretary of AGS Udalguri district committee. RihonDaimari, the PHE & Cooperation Minister appealed to the Gorkha community to give him a chance to observe silver jubilee as a legislator of the area.

A literary programme was also held on that occasion which was moderated by SahadevGautam and presided over by BishnuSarmaNeupane. BaidyanathUpadhyaya inaugurated the literary session where noted poets and new writers recited their write ups. The representatives of the AGS Udalguri district committee selected PawanLuitel as president, BhubanDhamala as working president and PurnaKiratRai as general secretary for the next term.
