Bhabesh Kalita Attends a Meeting of South Salmara Mankachar District Unit of BJP

Speaking on the occasion, Bhabesh Kalita expressed happiness over the confidence and efforts put forward by the district-level workers of the party.

SILCHAR: An organisational meeting of the South Salmara Mankachar distinct unit of Bharatiya Janata Party. The event was organised in the public auditorium at Harsingimari in the district.

Several key members of the Bharatiya Janta Party including state president Bhabesh Kalita, President of the Minority Morcha of Bharatiya Janta Party Santiuse Kujur, former MLA Ashok Singi and several other members were also present. Members of the party from all over the district also took part in the event taking the number of attendees to more than 100.

Speaking on the occasion, Bhabesh Kalita expressed happiness over the confidence and efforts put forward by the district-level workers of the party. He also mentioned that these efforts will affect the results in the upcoming general elections. He expressed confidence that the Bharatiya Janata Party will perform well in the district which has a large number minority population since the party works with the ideology of Sabka Sath, Sabka Bikas.

In a previous incident, a massive fire broke out in the Khelma locality of Ramnagar in Silchar on the night of Friday. A total of 8 houses were reportedly gutted in the incident that started because of a problem with the voltage in the electric lines. Victims of the incident mentioned that all their belongings were reduced to ashes because of the incident and they could not even save important documents and other items. They also alleged that the negligence of the electricity department was to be blamed for this incident and demanded strict action against them. The estimated losses because of the incident are said to be around 30 lakhs.

According to the officials of the fire and emergency department, the fire started in the house of Dayanand Singh and soon spread to the surrounding areas. It spread quickly to the neighbouring houses as the bursting of a cooking gas cylinder further accelerated the spread.
