GOLAGHAT: An 'All Assam Bhaona Competition' will be held at Chinatoly of Golaghat district under the aegis of premier NGO Golaghat 'Aranyam' with the help of the people of Golaghat from January 16 to January 27.
The president and secretary of the organizing committee -- Sanjib Hazarika and Samiran Diganta Bora -- said that for the third time for the year 2022, the bhaona competition will be held on an all-Assam basis with a 12-day programme. It will start on January 16.
In view to mobilising the precious creation of the bhaona of Assamese culture founder Sri Sri Srimanta Sankardev and his associate Sri Sri Madhabdev among the new generation, the 'Aranyam' has taken the initiative to hold the competition at Chinataly.
On the first day of the inaugural programme, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will take part as the chief guest. At the open session on January 17, the 'Agnigarh Bota' award will be given to Sri Sri Pitamnordev Goswami.
Altogether 20 bhaona groups will take part in the competition. Each group will have to submit the bhaona script before November 30.
The first prize is Rs 70, 000, the second prize is Rs 55,000 and the third prize is Rs 45, 000. Besides the cash awards, the winner groups will also get citation letters and mementoes, said the president and the secretary of the organising committee.
