TANGLA: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers and supporters across the four LACs of Udalguri district viz. Mazbat ,Udalguri, Paneri and Kalaigaon, have started pocket campaigning by holding meetings in village levels ahead of the forthcoming State Assembly polls.
Nominated Member Council of Legislative Assembly (MCLA) of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), Arpana Medhi, while talking to this correspondent at Tangla town in Udalguri district on Sunday, proclaimed that the BJP would retain power in the assembly election and the mission of the party of securing 100 plus would be a reality. She further asserted that there was a massive support base of BJP across the four assembly constituencies viz. Mazbat ,Udalguri, Paneri and Kalaigaon and as in the BTR polls where BJP won in 4 out of 10 seats in Udalguri and lost some others by a narrow margin, people this time were eagerly waiting to vote for the BJP.
She further claimed that the saffron party was in post poll alliance with the United People's Party Liberal (UPPL) and Gana Suraksha Party (GSP) in BTR and had formulated various welfare policies. By implementing these in a time-bound manner, the Bodo belt would witness rapid growth and development. She further stated that the Bodoland People's Front (BPF) or the new regional parties, be it Raijor Dal or Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP), would not pose any threat to the party and its candidates and BJP's victory in the seats would be a cakewalk for the candidates.
