NAGAON: Krishalay, a leading farmers' entrepreneur organization of the district, has organized a two-day long 'Bhogali Mela' at Puronigudam Bapuji Hall in Nagaon from Sunday.
Ladoo, pitha, gur and traditional food items of Dergaon have been exhibited here. All the products exhibited in the Mela have been prepared by the rural women of Puronigudam.
Noted tea expert Pradeep Hazarika inaugurated the food fair at a brief function which was attended by Dipen Bairagi, the secretary of Bapuji Hall, and a host of women SHG members as well as other women entrepreneurs of the greater Puronigudam area.
In his inaugural speech, Hazarika underscored the need for promotion of various Assamese traditional food items through proper market linkages. "Our ladoos and pithas have a unique demand in the market, but proper market linkage is the need at the hour," he added.
