DEMOW: Under the patronage of Demow Revenue Circle Office and in association with the people of Demow, the 73rd Independence Day began in Demow from August 13 with a three-day programme.
On August 13, extempore speech competition was organized at Demow Higher Secondary School in the presence of Manuroma Morang, Demow Circle Officer. On the same day, drawing competition was organized at Demow Town Committee office where students participated. On August 14, a bike rally was taken out from Demow to Rajabari and the bike rally was flagged off by Kushal Dowari, MLA of Thowra Constituency, in the presence of Manuroma Morang, Demow Circle Officer. After that quiz competition was organized and in the afternoon a handball competition was organized at Demow Public Playground.
On August 15, the programme will start in the morning with patriotic songs. After that the national flag will be hoisted in government offices and educational institutions. The ceremonial lamp in front of the portrait of Mahatma Gandhi will be lit and swahid tarpan will be offered. The national flag will be hoisted centrally by Manuroma Morang, Demow Circle Officer. MLA Kushal Dowari will be present in the programme as chief guest.
