TEZPUR: The 114th birth anniversary of Kalaguru Bishnu Prasad Rava was celebrated on Tuesday at the Samannya Kshetra, the cremation ground of Kalaguru Bishnu Prasad Rava at Gereki on the bank of river Brahmaputra. The programme was organised by the managing committee of Samannya Kshetra.
The event commenced with lighting of lamp and floral tribute to the Kalaguru by Minister Ranjit Kumar Dass in presence of Prithiraj Rava, Tezpur MLA and son of Bishnu Prasad Rabha, Deputy commissioner Deba Kumar Mishra, president and secretary of the managing committee, Putul Rava and Pankaj Baruah and other dignitaries. It was followed by a cultural programme with various folk and modern dances and songs performed by local artists.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Ranjit Dass talked about the important role of Kalaguru Bishnu Prasad Rabha in shaping the greater Assamese community. Bishnu Prasad Rabha was a multifaceted personality with an indomitable spirit, who left a permanent mark in the history of Assam through his revolutionary ideas and thinking. He urged the new generation to follow the ideology of the cultural icon Kalaguru reflecting a better and a classless society.
