Biswajit Daimary, born on February 4, 1971, is an Indian politician and social worker who represented Assam in Rajya Sabha as MP since year 2008 to year 2021, three consecutive terms from the Bodoland People's Front (BPF) and again re-elected as MP in February, 2021 as member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

He had a very humble beginning as his father Surendra Daimary was a farmer and an elephant mahout. He worked with his father and helped him in his daily chores. Daimary used to be a cowherd and helped the family run a small tea stall in their locality. Besides, he was also trained as an elephant mahout by his father.

He started his schooling from No.5 Suagpur LP School. Thereafter, he studied in Naokata Milan ME School and Naokata Milan High School from where he passed his matriculation in the year 1988. Then he completed his HS and degree courses from Kokrajhar College. Finally, he has obtained Master's degree in Political Science from Madurai Kamraj University.

During his primary education, when he was in Class V, he became associated with the All Bodo Students' Union (ABSU) and subsequently engaged himself in the Udayachal Movement run by the Plains Tribal Council of Assam (PTCA). As a result, he had a chance to meet leaders of the movement fighting for the same cause.

In the year 1987, he was motivated to join the Bodoland Movement under the leadership of Upendra Nath Brahma. In 1999, he was one of the key members driving the peace movement between Bodo Liberation Tiger, the Assam Government and the Government of India. Subsequently in year 2003, peace accord was signed.

He wanted to become a teacher from an early age, thus he joined the Assam Rashtra Bhasa Prasar Samiti in Class-V and appeared for Hindi examination passing Visharad when he was in Class IX only. He played a pivotal role as member of ABSU, the organization which envisaged and established the UN Brahma Girls' ME School during the year 1991 in memory of Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma. In same school, he has rendered his service as Hindi teacher till 1996, before he joined the Bodo Movement again.

In year 2001, he contested in the assembly election representing Tamulpur constituency with support of ABSU and BLT and won with majority. But in year 2006, he lost the assembly election from Tamulpur.

He was appointed A.R.T.F.E.D chairman from 2006 to 2008 by the Government of Assam. From 2008 to 2020, for three consecutive terms he was elected as Rajya Sabha MP from BPF. However, he resigned as MP Rajya Sabha in November 2020 and moved on from BPF to BJP, supporting the party's ideology for development, peace and harmony. He was re-elected as MP Rajya Sabha in February, 2021 from BJP.

In April 2021, he got a chance to fight the election from his Paneri constituency and he won the assembly election with majority.

Apart from his political journey, he has been actively involved and rendering voluntary social service since his student days. He has worked for the uplift of the backward rural tribals of the country, including nearby Asian countries like Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh and Mongolia.
