GUWAHATI: An international webinar on 'Geographical Perspective of Population in SAARC Countries: With Reference to India and Nepal' was organized by The Department of Geography, Biswanath College, Chariali on Friday.
According to a release, the webinar was part of 60 years Dimond Jublee Celebration Program of the College. It was supported by the IQAC Cell of Biswanath College. Dr. Chinta Moni Sharma, Principal of Biswanath College inaugurated the webinar and said the relevance and the importance of the webinar topic. The webinar session was conducted by Gunin Borah, Coordinator of the International Webinar and welcome address to Resource Persons, participants given by Dilip Borah, head of the department of Geography.
There were two session of the webinar with two Resource Person. The resource person of the first session was presented by Dr. Nandita Saikia, Assistant professor, Centre for the Study of Regional Development, School of Social Science, JNU, New Delhi spoke on the topic 'Population health and Sustainable Development in India'. Professor Bhim Prasad Subedi, Ph.D., Chairman, University Grants Commission of Nepal, was the Resource Person for the second session. He presented the topic on 'Geographic Reality of Population Dynamics of Nepal'.
Earlier Gunin Borah, Coordinator introduced both the resource persons to the participants. The Cisco- WebEx, the online platform for the webinar was maintained by the Technical Coordinator Dr. Lalit Baruah, IQAC Cell of the College. At the end of the two session, Coordinator of the webinar offered vote of thanks to Principal, Resource Person, participants of India and abroad, members of the organizing committee, IQSC of the College.
