Biswanath DC Pranab Kumar Sarmah Makes Frequent Visits to COVID Hospitals

With the Chief Minister laying stress on late night visits to COVID hospitals

BISWANATH CHARIALI: With the Chief Minister laying stress on late night visits to COVID hospitals, the Deputy Commissioner of Biswanath, Pranab Kumar Sarmah has taken personal initiative in this regard and has been making surprise visits to various COVID hospitals of the district at odd hours and taking stock of the situation.

Other administrative officers too have been issued directives by the Deputy Commissioner to make regular such visits to hospitals. Recently, the Deputy Commissioner, along with the Superintendent of Police Ripul Das, paid visit to at least five COVID hospitals from 3 am onwards. The first visit was made to Biswanath Chariali Civil Hospital where most of the COVID positive patients of the district are currently undergoing treatment. The DC interacted with the doctors on duty and enquired about the condition of the patients and the medical support being extended to them. It was followed by surprise visits to Borgang Model Hosptial, Kalabari Model Hospital, COVID Care Centre (CCC) at Chariduar and Balichang Model Hospital.

"As per the directive of our Chief Minister, we are making regular visits to COVID hospitals at late night and wee hours. Such visits create extra alertness among the doctors and medical staff and at the same time it is a great morale booster for them. I am hopeful these visits will surely help in curbing the fatality rate due to COVID -19," said Sarmah.

With a large number of COVID positive cases being reported from tea estates in Biswanath district, the Deputy Commissioner too has been making personal visits to them and taking stock of the situation. The administration is in constant touch with the management of the tea gardens to keep a tab on the condition of patients admitted at CCCs within tea gardens and also regarding relief being extended to those inside containment zones. The administration is also ensuring that relief is being distributed on time in other containment as well as micro containment zones in the district so that hardships of residents inside them are minimized.
