BISWANATH CHARIALI: Dilip Kumar Baruah, president of Biswanath District Congress Committee, expressed great concern over the matter of imposition of a series of lockdowns by the government and the district administration in Biswanath district for a long time.

Addressing a media gathering here, Baruah said, "The number of COVID positive cases has declined in the district, yet the 24-hour long curfew has not been withdrawn so far. Due to the lockdown, the life of the poor and needy people has become unbearable." He further added that in comparison to Lakhimpur and Sonitpur districts, Biswanath had a very lower rate of COVID positivity and in such a situation, there was no logic to put a complete lockdown in the district. The president made an appeal to the State Government to declare a special package for the poor and needy people who have been adversely affected by the pandemic and its subsequent consequences.

The Biswanath district Congress Committee also congratulated the newly elected Assam Pradesh Congress Committee president Bhupen Bora along with three working presidents, Rana Goswami, Kamalakhya Dey Purakayasta and Jakir Hussain, respectively. The press meet was also attended by other party leaders.
