Biswanath:
Amid COVID-19 situation Adarsh Garehagi Gaon Samiti of Biswanath Chariali is
planning to organize its two-day 113th Raas festival on November 30 and
December 1, 2021.
The festival will be held at Garehagi Namghar in
Biswanath Chariali on Raas Purnima (The full moon day) by maintaining social
distancing and other COVID-19 protocol.
In a press conference, the festival committee said,
keeping the ongoing pandemic in mind they have cancelled bhaona (Drama) that
features child artiste below 10 years and senior actors above 65 years.
This year they will keep it simple and short and only
the dance dramas based on Lord Krishna's childhood will be performed. Apart
from that, Keligopal natbhag (Drama) will be staged in an open field.
The secretary of the Raas celebration committee, Tapan Saikia said," We have been organizing this festival for the last 113 years. Even though this year the situation is not comfortable enough, we will organise the festival abiding by the COVID-19 protocol."
They also urged people to enjoy the occasion wearing
masks. Sanitizers will be placed at the main entrance for all the visitors. The seating arrangement will be in keeping with the social distance norms.
Raas Utsav (Festival) also called Sri Krishna Raas Leela is celebrated on "Raas Purnima" a full moon day in the month of November every year where the life of Sri Krishna and his many wonders are performed on stage in various forms of play and acts.
