‘BJP aiming at scrapping 6th schedule status of BTC’ : Kampa Borgoyari

KOKRAJHAR: Bodoland Students’ Union (BSU) on Wednesday observed its foundation day and held a get together programme at Bathou Kherai Complex in Chirang. The special get together programme was attended by former BTC chief and BPF president Hagrama Mohilary.

Talking to media persons, former Deputy Chief of BTC Kampa Borgoyari said BSU was the student wing of BPF. He said ABSU, AKRSU, AGSU, ABMSU used to work and raise voice only for the issues of their respective communities but there is no common platform to raise common issues of all communities. There was an urgent need of a common platform for all communities and thus BSU was formed at the behest of BPF, he said adding that BSU had been working for the common cause of all communities.

Borgoyari said they had come to know that an influential minister of Assam has been stating publicly in various places that the 6th schedule status of BTC would be scrapped if the BJP returns to power at the centre. He said the 6th schedule administration of BTC will come to an end if BJP returns to power. He also said the BPF had been working hard to regain its bases in every remote area with a challenge. He alleged that a cabinet minister (without taking the name of Ashok Singhal) had been campaigning in BTC areas and trying to reactivate Boro and O-Boro to divide the voters to jeopardize the Bodo politics. He further said the people of Bodoland will never encourage such communal politics any more and said this time the BPF will get at least 70 pc of votes in BTC.

On fielding of candidates in the upcoming parliamentary election, Borgoyari said BPF will field its own candidates in Kokrajhar and Darrang-Udalguri HPC. He claimed that most of the senior leaders of BPF had taken his name for being candidate of Kokrajhar HPC and said he was mentally and physically prepared for it. He also said the BPF will announce the names of candidates after observing other parties. He further said the door for giving and taking support for the poll battle was always open.

The president of the BSU Swmaosar Basumatary said over 500 delegates from different districts of BTC attended the get together programme.  He said BSU discussed on the issues of academic environment of BTC and problems of teachers. He also said the union discussed other common problems of the students of all communities.

Earlier in the morning the president of BSU Swmaosar Basumatary hoisted the organizational flag. The get together programme was also attended by BTC MCLAs- Derhasat Basumatary, Prakash Basumatary and Doneswar Goyary.
