GOALPARA: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday announced the names of 15 candidates for the Goalpara Municipal Board (GMB) election. Among the total 19 wards for GMB, the BJP has left four wards for its alliance partner the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP).
Himadry Das, president of Goalpara district BJP, at a joint press meet with AGP, declared the names of its candidates at the district journalists' association office.
According to the list, BJP has fielded Akan Kalita in ward number 1, Aparupa Das in number 3, Bir Pandey in number 5, Doli Ghosh in 6, Geetanjali Das in 7, Mamoni Das Mallik in 8, Swapna Das in 9, Nishad Jaman in 10, Ratnakar Das in 11, Atikur Rahman in 12, Robiul Islam in 13, Satya Narayan Desowara 15 , Mahananda Pathak in 16 and Jahidul Islam in ward number 18.
Meanwhile, the AGP will declare the names of its four candidates on Monday. "We will declare it tomorrow," said Jiten Das, president of Goalpara district AGP.
The BJP alliance has claimed to constitute both the Lakhipur and Goalpara Municipal Boards.
