NEW DELHI: The Congress Party senior leader Rahul Gandhi has been facing a lot of criticism after his tweet on 10 February which was about the spirit of India and the union of states.

According to reports on Monday 14 February, more than a thousand cases will be filed against Rahul Gandhi by the members of the ruling BJP for his remark on the union of states by removing the northeast.

The filing of sedition cases by BJP comes amid protest by the Congress student wing against Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for his comment on Rahul Gandhi's proof of being the son of Rajiv Gandhi former Prime Minister of India.

Congress members have filed numerous cases against Sarma for such remarks against Gandhi while addressing a rally in Uttarkhand.

Gandhi last week tweeted that there is strength in the union of India mentioning the union of people, languages, diversity, people and states.

He further wrote that India is beautiful in all its colours from Kashmir to Kerala and Gujarat to West Bengal. He asked not to insult the spirit of the country.

Various political leaders reacted to the post by Gandhi but Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Chief Minister of Manipur N Biren Singh were the first to point out that in the tweet by Gandhi he missed mentioning the northeastern state.

According to sources, the Congress chief knowingly and deliberately ignored the northeast region and thereby conceded to the demand of China for the state of Arunachal Pradesh.

In reply to the tweet by Gandhi, Assam CM on 10 February targeted the Congress chief for his ignorance of the northeast in the union of state and further criticized philosophy saying it as broken philosophy.

He reminded the Wayanad MP that beyond West Bengal, the northeast exists and India a far beyond just a union, it is a proud nation.

The Manipur Chief Minister in a tweet attacking Gandhi said that he is shocked how the Congress party is asking for a vote from the northeastern region in the upcoming elections after ignorance of the region in such a way by the senior Congress leader.

He mentioned that this ignorance by the party chief has made him utterly puzzled as the existence of the Northeast seems doesn't matter to Gandhi

The chief minister of Tripura Biplab Kumar Deb also reacted to the spirit of India tweet saying that this is the only reason for the Congress party completely wiped out from the northeast region. He further said that he excluded the region just like a great grandfather.

It is not just the CMs of northeastern state by many others didn't like the remark by Gandhi like Union Ministry of State in the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment Pratima Bhoumik who regarded the statement by Rahul Gandhi as a real insult and said that Congress continues to ignore northeast.
