BJP candidate Dr Numal Momin files nomination for Bokajan constituency

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate for 17 Bokajan (ST) constituency, Dr Numal Momin filed his nomination for the upcoming state Assembly Election before the Returning Officer at Bokajan SDO (C) office on Wednesday.

BOKAJAN: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate for 17 Bokajan (ST) constituency, Dr Numal Momin filed his nomination for the upcoming state Assembly Election before the Returning Officer at Bokajan SDO (C) office on Wednesday.

Hundreds of supporters, including MP Horensing Bey, KAAC Speaker Lonki Timing, EM Jagatsing Engti, EM Madhujya Dhekial Phukan, MAC Mukut Mahanta, MAC Pabitra Rongpi and MAC Richard Tokbi accompanied Dr Momin when he proceeded to file nomination. The supporters took out a rally in support of Dr Momin and later assembled in front of the SDO(C) office while Momin filed nomination inside.

"In the last five years, I have received tremendous love and support of the people and I tried to fulfill their hopes and aspirations up to some extent. Development is my prime agenda and I shall dedicate my next five years for further development my constituency," Dr Momin said after filing nomination.

Bokajan constituency is heading for polls in the second phase scheduled on April 1. The constituency has a total of 1,49,929 registered voters. In the 2016 Assembly Election, Dr Numal Momin of the BJP won by defeating then incumbent INC MLA Klengdoon Engti by a margin of 4,744 votes.

"This time I shall win with a minimum margin of 40,000-50,000 votes. There is no opposition. The Congress has preconceived defeat and are yet to declare candidate," Dr Momin said.

He further appealed to the people of Bokajan to continue their love and blessings towards the BJP and ensure further development of the region initiated under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
