BJP fulfilling its commitment to indigenous people: Ranjeet Dass

KOKRAJHAR: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has set its eyes on making a grand entry in BTC politics. A three-day party convention organized by the Tribal Morcha of the BJP got underway from Monday at Kokrajhar HS&MP School playground.

Assam State BJP president Ranjeet Kumar Dass was warmly welcomed by party leaders and supporters at the Kendriya Vidyalaya premises of Jwhwlao Dwimalu Road, Titaguri and taken to Kokrajhar by motorcycle rally.

Talking to reporters during the warm reception at Titaguri, Dass said the BJP was committed and had been fulfilling the promises made to the people of the State. He said the BJP government in the State had given land to landless indigenous people, clauses of BTR accords were being implemented, Boro language had been made associate official language of Assam and land of xatras which had been illegally encroached were now protected. He also said the BJP would ensure protection of indigenous communities, besides giving them equal rights and privileges.

When asked regarding the holding of BTC election, Dass said the State Government was observing the surge of COVID-19 pandemic in the State and its protocol in a strict manner. He hoped that there could be possible environment in December and the BTC election would be expected to be held by that month.

The State BJP president said that the party had started reaching out to every section of the society and programmes with Minority Morcha, Tribal Morcha and Mahila Morcha were being held across the State to ensure equal development.

Meanwhile, the delegate meeting of the Kokrajhar district BJP was held and meeting of ST Morcha of BJP will be held on October 13 and October 14. State Finance Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma will attend the ST Morcha meeting on Tuesday while Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal will grace the open meeting on Wednesday.
