GUWAHATI: Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal attended a huge public rally in support of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate from Dhekiajuli, Ashok Singhal said that people of the State had seen the steps taken by the BJP-led State Government for the development of the State, stated a press release.
During the Congress regime, corruption and irregularities had engulfed the entire State but now meritorious candidates were getting government jobs transparently due to the strong steps taken by the BJP government against corruption, he said.
Saying that now beneficiaries were able to receive government scheme benefits directly in their bank accounts without middlemen, Sonowal said that during the Congress government's time people had to give bribe for getting basic government services and now all government schemes had been implemented transparently which had brought the people's faith back on the administrative system. "Congress fleeced and exploited the poor and downtrodden and they are the real enemies of the people," he asserted.
The Chief Minister also attended a public rally at Borsola in support of the BJP candidate from the LAC, Ganesh Kumar Limbu and flayed the Congress for looting money meant for the poor and facilitating a middleman culture till the grassroots which created instability in the society. He said that the BJP-led State Government had ended the corruption, favouritism, divisive politics and misrule of earlier Congress government and ensured equal development of all communities by showing equal respect to all.
"Though five-year period is not enough for finding solutions to all long-pending problems of Assam, the BJP government has made sincere efforts in this regard and has worked for strengthening the bond of harmony and unity among all sections of the society and that is why, the people of Assam have decided to bring the BJP back to power," he said. He reiterated that the BJP government would continue to take strong steps for safeguarding the interest of greater Assamese society. Later on, Sonowal also attended two more rallies at Balipara and Chabua LACs and urged the people to elect the BJP candidates with huge margin.
