BJP MLA Atul Bora Urges Not To Use Edible Oil, Ask People to Avoid Fish & Meat in Evening

“Edible oils are not good for health. People should avoid the use of these as this could deposit harmful ingredients in the human body," said the MLA.

GUWAHATI: Dispur BJP MLA Atul Bora has once again urged people not to consume or use cooking oil, cautioning that edible oils are not good for health.

The ruling party MLA made such a comment on edible oil while talking about the current price rise drawing flak from various sections, a few days ago.

On Thursday, MLA Bora speaking in a meeting reiterated his earlier stand on the edible oil and said, "I do not eat items preprepared on edible oil. Edible oils are not good for health. People should avoid the use of these. Spurious edible oil could deposit harmful ingredients in the human body."

The MLA also cautioned the people to be careful in eating fish and meat. According to him, people should not eat fish and meat in the evening time.

"The fishes reared in the pond are not good for health. Only the river and such sources fishes are good," he added.

Further, the MLA said that meat is also not good for health. "My wife quarrels with me as I do not eat food items prepared on oil. I eat fish. Our Chief Minister does not eat meat," he said.

Earlier, the Dispur constituency MLA, Atul Bora said if people reduced the consumption of oil, the rates will come down, and the outlets producing "spurious oil" will also shut down.

"Mark my words, 90% of the mustard oil in the market is adulterated. I don't eat mustard oil instead I enjoy boiled food. In Arunachal Pradesh, most of the families have not seen mustard oil."

Meanwhile, BJP state president Bhabesh Kalita said it was Bora's "personal opinion" on the rising mustard oil prices, he echoed his sentiments and said people suffering from heart ailments should stop using all kinds of oil, let alone mustard oil. "…things shall look up again when there is a surplus at places of cultivation," said Kalita.
