Lakhimpur: Aggressive campaign for the Assam Municipal Board Election, 2022 continues in Lakhimpur district to attract the attention of the voters. The candidates nominated by Asom Gana Parishad (AGP), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Congress, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the independent candidates have been campaigning to attract the urban voters by visiting their homes in the respective wards.

Amid such environment, ruling party BJP organized a campaign rally on Thursday at Tyag Kshetra in North Lakhimpur town. The meeting organized on this occasion was held under the chairmanship of Lakhimpur district unit BJP president Phanidhar Baruah. Taking part in the rally, Lakhimpur MP Pradan Baruah, MLA Manab Deka campaigned in support of the contesting party candidates of North Lakhimpur Municipal Board (NLMB). Both of them claimed that the BJP would win all 21 seats under NLMB in the civic body election and the party would constitute the municipal board concerned. Notably, the ruling party has already won the Ward No. 13 seat being uncontested.

In the rally, Lakhimpur MLA Manab Deka said that he had worked relentlessly in the past nine months for the all-round development of North Lakhimpur. "In the upcoming days, BJP will constitute the NLMB which was under flux during the rule of the Congress. This time people will not cast vote for Congress," Manab Deka stated.

On the other hand, Lakhimpur district unit BJP president Phanidhar Baruah said that the party had not patronized any differentiating politics. "It has been proved by the winning of minority dominated Ward No. 13 seat by the BJP. Differentiating politics will obstruct inclusive development," Phanidhar Baruah added.

In the rally, several district leaders of BJP, office bearers of the district committee took part, including the contesting candidates. In the same programme, Tai Ahom Yuva Parishad office bearers Siddhartha Gogoi, Manabjyoti Gogoi and Madhabjyoti Gogoi joined the BJP.
