JORHAT: Gobin Borah, the secretary of Jorhat district BJP Yuva Morcha, was arrested and sent to Jorhat Central Jail for attacking a police convoy led by Jorhat Police Station Officer-in-charge Naba Kumar Borah. Gobin along with his goons allegedly attacked the police team and damaged a police vehicle. The police seized a Ford Figo car bearing registration number AS 03M-0754.
Gobin Borah allegedly manhandled the police team and a rider squad team who were investigating the kidnapping of a housewife following a complaint filed by her husband at the Jorhat PS on Monday. A team led by Jorhat PS OC reached the area towards Dakhin Sarbaibandha when they got information that the housewife had been kept in the rented house of Gobin Borah, who hails from Majuli Goromur. Gobin was reportedly in a drunken state and flew into a rage when the police team entered his rented house. He also had an altercation with the police.
The kidnapped housewife was recovered from the Saraibandha area and sent for medical check-up and produced before the CJM court. Gobin was arrested and produced before the CJM court under case no. 359/20 under section 323/294/427/506 of IPC.
