BJSM Expresses Anger Over 'Rape & Murder' of Tribal Girls in Kokrajhar district

Bodoland Janajati Suraksha Mancha (BJSM) on Monday expressed deep anguish over the suspected rape and murder of two tribal girls at Abhayakhuti in Kokrajhar district and urged the Government of Assam to act in a tough manner against the perpetrators.

KOKRAJHAR: Bodoland Janajati Suraksha Mancha (BJSM) on Monday expressed deep anguish over the suspected rape and murder of two tribal girls at Abhayakhuti in Kokrajhar district and urged the Government of Assam to act in a tough manner against the perpetrators.

The president of BJSM, Janaklal Basumatary said that the recent atrocity committed against tribal girls in Assam was a matter of deep concern and anguish. "There are many more unreported incidents of rape and murder, and victims of human trafficking in Assam. BJSM expresses deep concern and anguish over the matter. BJSM appeals to the Government of Assam to ensure the protection of right to life, right to live with dignity, right to safety and security of life and property of weaker sections of society and protect the human rights of tribal people. Each and every such case of atrocity must be booked under the Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989 as amended in 2005 in addition to the appropriate provision of IPC for prevention of crime against tribal girl, tribal woman and tribal people as a whole," he said.
