BKWAC observes 66th birth anniversary of Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma

LAKHIMPUR: Bodo Kachari Welfare Autonomous Council (BKWAC) observed the 66th birth anniversary of Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma in a befitting manner on Thursday

To commemorate the Bodofa, who is revered as the father of Bodo community, a colourful programme was organized by the BKWAC at its Secretariat located at Sanjari Nwgwr in Dhemaji district.

In the programme, BKWAC Chief Executive Member Mihiniswar Basumatary paid floral tribute to the portrait of the Bodofa while chairperson Gambaru Mushahary lit the ceremonial lamp. It was followed by a commemoration programme under the management of United Bodo People's Organization (UBPO) adviser Sukreswar Goyari. In the programme, while delivering his lecture, the BKWAC chief said that Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma had been spearheading a democratic movement to make an end to the pitiable political, socio-economic conditions of the Bodo community since 1987.

"His aim was to achieve the judicious right for the community. He paved a way for the rise of the community. He awakened a strong sense of nationality among the community people by giving up selfish interest and with his leadership enriched with neo-ideology and thoughts to ensure development and a secure future of the community. Following his ideology at present, the Bodo community has been proceeding on the path of development. Progressive and secure society can be built by following Bodofa's ideology only," the BKWAC chief asserted.

In the programme, BKWAC deputy chairman Srijan Basumatary, deputy CEM Romeo Narjary, UBPO president Manoranjan Basumatary, general secretary Pitambar Brahma were present along with several leaders of the Bodo community frontal organizations.
