'Black Cat' by Bhargav Saikia wins best film award in 'Spotlight shorts Award'

Biswanath: 'Black Cat' the fantasy film by Bhargav Saikia of Assam wins best film award in 'Spotlight shorts Award' organized by 'One Page Spotlight 2020' in Bangalore. This was announced by the organizer through a social media platform on Wednesday (December 23).

In the competition among a total of 50 short films in all languages of India, the Tom Alter-starrer short film 'Black Cat' was also nominated for best cinematography, best actor, and best screenplay.

Five films-'The Black Cat', 'Kukli', 'Gandha', '2 + 2 = 5' and 'Hope' was shortlisted for the final round of the competition.

The 'Black Cat' won the Best Cinematography Award at the summer edition of Asians on Film Festival of Shorts held in the USA in 2017.

The film also received nominations for Best Director and Best Film at the 2018 Critics' Choice Short Film Awards presented by the Film Critics Guild of India.

The Black Cat", also featuring Shernaz Patel, was an adaptation of author Ruskin Bond''s short story.

This success has made the Assamese son Bhargav Saikia more confident to lead the way in the coming days.

After the success of several short films, Bhargav Saikia will soon make his debut in a horror–fantasy drama 'Bokshi' based on an original screenplay by debut writer Harsh Vaibhav.
