SILCHAR: As a part of Cachar District Day celebration on June 13, Deputy Commissioner Rohan Kumar Jha inaugurated voluntary blood donation camp at Assam Medical Service Asssociation house at SM Dev Civil Hospital on Monday. Jha mentioned that for the first time in Cachar, the residents would get all information and details about the historical importance of the district, the importance of this civilization built along the Barak River through various programmes to mark the Cachar Day. A cleanliness drive would be started from Capital Point on Tuesday morning, and a theme song would also be released on District Day at 11am. Superintendent of Police Numal Mahatta also spoke in the occasion.
42 BSF jawans and district Police personnel donated their blood and 46 units of blood were collected by various health worker. The official documents and records suggested that on June 13, 1864 Cachar came under Commissioner’s charge. Himanta Biswa Sarma government had decided to celebrate District Day in every district taking the date of the joining of the first Commissioner in the respective district.
To celebrate the Cachar Day, the district administration had chalked out a programme schedule. On June 13, the main programme would be held at Silchar Bhanga Bhawan where the Guardian Minister of the district Jayanta Malla Baruah would also take part along with the MP as well as all the seven MLAs of Cachar.
